Why is UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown's government "falling apart"?

Because they have just discovered that since the last election (which was a long time ago now - 'a week is a long time in politics' ) - they have been out of office. Also, Gordon Brown himself effectively did a 'Harold Wilson', and disappeared from public view. He has been taking psychiatric medicines for a couple of years.
